Dissecting: Biology Dissecting
June 20, 2008 12:34 pm Dissecting, EducationBiology dissecting is a process that enables students to experience a realistic approach to anatomy. Up to the point of conducting dissection, many students can only relate to anatomy from the perspective of a textbook. This hands on approach to exploration introduces a new dimension to learning.
The Focus and Exploration of Biology Dissecting
Plant and animal dissections provide students with a three dimensional understanding of anatomy. They can examine the visual consistency and structure of the cells and organs. They can also highlight the path of communication and interaction between the organs.
Biology dissecting aims to highlight the uniqueness and diversity of living organisms. Through this focused study, students can begin to understand the common characteristics, and/or the variations of internal structures between organisms. Students should be able to distinguish and comprehend the major systems both external and internal of a living organism.
Biology and biology dissecting incorporate the study of all living organisms. You can choose to focus your lab on either plant or animal dissection. Once you have decided on the type of lab you wish to conduct, you will need to acquire all the necessary lab tools. The majority of manufacturers will offer pre-made kits that are geared towards either botany or animal dissection. It is important that you acquire the correct and suitable tools for your lab. It is not advisable to assume that all tools are suitable for all uses regardless of specimen. You could be putting your students in a harmful situation if they are using improper tools. It is always important to put safety and the interest of the students above all else.
